Phil.Perry@JakJazz

It was the first time for me to see Phil Perry, in an impressive and entertaining live performance in the Jakarta International Jazz Festival 2006. It was at Senayan complex, Jakarta, on Saturday, November 25, 2006.

Whilst Jazz is one of my favorite music, my knowledge about the jazz world was actually, and is still, quite limited.

I visited Phil website at http://www.philperry.net/ and http://www.soultracks.com/perry.htm to get some background information about him and to educate me about his work.

Whilst Perry has produced five strong solo albums, I happened to have only one. What I like about him was his soaring falsetto, the dialogue he built with the audience, his expressive face, and his dynamic movements along the stage. As a brand, he has a unique quality of voice, an easily memorable posture and face, and has been associated with other big names, such as Anita Baker, Boz Scaggs, Rod Stewart, Peabo Bryson and George Duke.

Some of the songs that Perry performed at that night were Perfect Island, The Best of Me, Magic, After The Love is Gone and All of My Life.

As for the images, I reduced the sizes from the original ones of between 3.8 to 4.8 MB. Should you need the original ones, do let me know.

Walking around, taking pictures and enjoying the music festival environment was really refreshing. I will definitely come to the next big event, the Java Jazz Festival. Will you be there?
