No Easy Money

In the last few weeks I received again e-mails with the same story lines. It's about a request of assistance to transfer a huge amount of money out of a certain country for some reasons, and you'll get commission.

I always thought that it's kind of money laundering act, and that I would actually get the money if I decided to give the assistance, which I never did. It turned out to be a lot worse than what I thought.

Here's one of the e-mails:

Dearest
After going through your profile i decided to contact you for friendship and assistance.I am Mr Karim Mamdou with my sister Saleh Mamdou we are the children of late Dr. Tersy Mamdou ,

Our father was poisoned to death by his business associates because of his wealth and during our fathers sickness he called me on his sick bed as his son because our mother died when we was young and told me about the money($12.500.000) he deposited in a bank here in Senegal

That was because of this money he was poisoned that if he die i shall look for some one whom i trust to help us transfer this money out of this country to his account for investment purpose abroad while i will continue my education then the person will be managing the investment.
We are seeking your assistance to help me transfer this money out of this country for our life sake while we will come to meet you to continue our education in your country.

We are looking forward to hear from you and we will be giving you $4.500.000 of this fund for your assistance. As i have every documents that relates to this transfer. Please reply me directely on this my private mail box for more details. karmamdou@yahoo.fr Expecting to hear from you.
Thanks
Mr Karim Mamdou & Sister.

It was an article in the Jakarta Post on March 11 by Colin Bloodworth, a senior financial adviser, that enlightened me. The title is "Great News: I don't Need to Work Anymore".

What would happen if I replied Karim's e-mail, or whoever the hell he is, was that he would ask me details of my bank account, complete with my signature. A few days later I would face a complete disaster. This Mr. Karim Mamdou would use my signature to dry up my savings, with no chance at all to get it back, and no chance to track him down as he could be anywhere in this injustice world.

I suspect that there are many people who had ever been fooled by this kind of tricks, but didn't want to share with others. It's a bitter lesson for those who had ever been trapped, and those who would be. It's a Lesson that there would be no easy money, no easy career path, no easy life. We have to work hard for it. We have to abide by the law of the harvest, to borrow Covey's wisdom.

Now, with that wisdom, I can delete all those junk e-mails with peace in mind. Thanks Colin.
