Paseban Museum

Paseban Museum [Museum Paseban] is on the right wing of the Pancasila Sakti Monument complex, at the far right of the area where the PKI (Communist) Betrayal Museum is located. This museum can be accessed from the connecting hallway after leaving PKI Betrayal Museum on the second floor, or directly from the front of the museum by passing a number of short steps.

Paseban Museum contains dioramas and photo documentation which are mainly related to the events of the G30S / PKI rebellion in 1965. The museum was inaugurated by President Soeharto on October 1, 1981, to coincide with the commemoration of the two windus (a windu = 8 years) of Pancasila Sacred Day.

The renovation of the museum was then carried out upon the idea of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the commemoration of Pancasila Sacred Day in 2007, but the actual renovation works was carried out in 2013. The inauguration of the renovation of the Paseban Museum was carried out by the Commander of the TNI, Admiral TNI Agus Suhartono on August 25, 2013 .

A view to the direct entry into the Paseban building at the Pancasila Sakti Monument compound. Other access is from the back side, which is closer to the vehicle parking area, beside access from the connecting hallway after exiting the PKI Betrayal Museum.

Upon entering the museum room, you will see a reception desk that is likley left empty than guarded. This is understandable since visitors have already paid entrance fees at the far front of the area, and most visitors seem to have come from the connecting hallway anyway.

In the Paseban Museum there is also a large theater showing film footage about the kidnapping and murder by the G30S / PKI gang in 1965, lasting about 30 minutes. The cost of screening films will be economical if visitors come in large groups, while individual visitors or in small numbers can see the film in the opposite theater of Relic Room, behind the Paseban Museum.

Access to the Paseban Museum from the connecting hallway after leaving the PKI Betrayal Museum. Most visitors to the Paseban Museum may enter from this direction, as it is much easier in terms of order of visits, rather than the other way around.

The first diorama was about preparatory meetings for the G30S / PKI rebellion, including the formation of the PKI Special Bureau chaired by Syam Kamaruzaman, consisting of Pono and Waluyo, directly under PKI Chairman DN Aidit. Upon his return from China in August 1965, DN Aidit ordered Kamaruzaman to draft a military movement concept to deal a blow to what they called the "Council of Generals". Syam was also given the task of drafting the concept of the "Revolutionary Council" as the highest state institution after the PKI came to power.

The next diorama shows activities during the PKI volunteer training at Lubang Buaya which took place from July 5 to September 30, 1965, on the pretext of a confrontation with Malaysia. In this exercise, they were taught marching, unloading weapons, and combat techniques. The PKI also demanded the formation of the 5th Force by arming workers and peasants, imitating the PRC concept.

Next, there's a diorama showing the scene when the bodies of Army officers were being put into the deadly well at Lubang Buaya on October 1, 1965. In the well, which is 75 cm in diameter and 12 meters deep, the bodies are put in with their heads down. After all the bodies were put into the well, they fired bullets into the well in succession. The well is then covered with dirt and trash to remove any traces.

Then there's a diorama depicting the situation when the security operation at Lanuma Halim Perdanakusuma was carried out on October 2, 1965, as part of the operation to quell the G30S / PKI rebellion. The operation was aimed to free the air base from rebel hands, and to find the location where the kidnapped TNI AD officers were hidden.

The next diorama is a depiction of the process of removing the body from the deadly well which was carried out on 4 October 1965. The discovery of the location of the kidnapping was obtained based on information from the Level II Police Agent Sukiman who was also kidnapped in the G30S / PKI incident but he managed to escape. The location of the old well was discovered on 3 October 1965 at around 16.00 by the RPKAD (army elite command) troops under the leadership of Danyon I Major CI Santoso.

Then the diorama of the ceremony for the departure of the bodies from the Army Headquarters (MBAD) to the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta which took place on October 5, 1965. The ceremony for the departure of the remains was led by the Coordinating Minister for Defense and Security / Kasab General AH Nasution who acted as the inspector of the ceremony.

At 10:00 am, accompanied by salvo shots and the sound of drums, the seven bodies of the Revolutionary Heroes were dispatched to Kalibata TMP. In addition to dioramas, the Paseban Museum Pancasila Sakti Monument Jakarta also displays documentation photos related to the G30S / PKI incident.

Another diorama depicts the kidnappings of General AH Nasution, Lieutenant General Ahmad Yani, Major General R Soeprapto, Major General MT Haryono, Major General S Parman, Brigadier General DI Pandjaitan, Brigadier General Soetojo S, and First Lieutenant CZI PA Tendean. There's also a diorama of the shooting of Deputy Inspector of Police Level I KS Tubun, who at that time was on duty at the residence of DR Leimena's Deputy Chief of Dam II. Photos of the ten Revolutionary Heroes were displayed on a wall of the Paseban Jakarta Pancasila Sakti Monument Museum.
